Mayden and SilverCloud Health partner to provide online mental health platform
People seeking support for their mental health can now receive instant digital therapy support, following a collaboration between digital care record supplier Mayden and online cognitive behavioural therapy solutions provider SilverCloud Health.
The ‘Direct to Digital’ approach is being rolled-out at mental health trusts throughout the UK, including Nottingham, Birmingham, Berkshire and Dorking.
By filling out an online self-referral form to an NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) service people can access a course of digital therapy.
Fiona Dawson, director at Mayden, said: “Our collaboration with SilverCloud is providing patients with support while they wait for their first appointment with therapy services. As the platform is online, people can access the support whenever and wherever is best for them.”
Metabolic fitness platform Ultrahuman acquires wearable company LazyCo
Metabolic fitness platform Ultrahuman has announced the acquisition of consumer-focused wearable company LazyCo, which created the Aina ring wearable.
LazyCo will integrate with Ultrahuman’s global in-house hardware development team to enhance users’ experience and improve global metabolic health standards.
Meanwhile, Ultrahuman will leverage the LazyCo team’s expertise to generate deeper metabolic and health insights.

EIT Health launches foundation to address talent crunch in healthcare
EIT Health is seeking to partner with industry and tech giants in a Europe-wide initiative to secure new talent and prepare the healthcare sector for the future.
The organisation, which is part of the European Union’s European Institute for Innovation and Technology, has launched the WorkInHealth Foundation to match skilled talent with healthcare industry roles across Europe.
It is also seeking sponsors for a €2 million fund to help attract new recruits, upskill existing talent, and make the healthcare sector more attractive to graduates.
Celine Carrera, director of education, EIT Health and chairperson of the WorkInHealth Foundation, said: “If Europe is to maintain a vibrant and sustainable healthcare sector that can lead in innovation, we must rise to the challenge of recruiting and educating the best talent.”
Heart patients at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust receive digitised remote monitoring
Swedish virtual ward company Doccla is supporting the recovery of 100 heart patients undergoing ablation therapy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.
UHCW NHS Trust and Doccla will capture electrocardiogram (ECG), selected vital signs and symptomatic data in patients preparing for a cardiac ablation procedure to treat atrial fibrillation (AF). The patients’ recovery will also be monitored for three months post-operation.

The Scotland 5G Centre launches digital health innovation challenge
SMEs and tech entrepreneurs are invited to share their ideas to address challenges in the health sector to an innovation challenge launched by The Scotland 5G Centre and its S5GConnect Dumfries hub.
The ‘Shaping Digital Health & Social Care’ challenge will support three projects to improve healthcare delivery, by providing 5G expertise to help make their solution market ready.
